Your privacy is critically important to us.
YAKWETU™ is located at:
c/o YAKWETU™ Online Limited,House 3, Mugoya Lane,
off Hatheru Road, Lavington,
Nairobi – KENYA.
It is YAKWETU™'s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. This Privacy Policy applies to https://www.yakwetu.africa (hereinafter, "us", "we", or "https://www.yakwetu.africa"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personally identifiable information you may provide us through the Website.
This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms and conditions posted on our Website, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of our Website. Depending on your activities when visiting our Website, you may be required to agree to additional terms and conditions.
1. Website Visitors & Telemetry
Like most website operators, YAKWETU™ collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting this is to better understand how visitors use the website.
Technical Support Telemetry: In addition, our website features a Technical Diagnostics Portal to help optimize playback performance and resolve user streaming errors. When running diagnostics, our application processes technical device capabilities (such as screen resolution, color depth, Media Source Extensions support, and autoplay support), network benchmarks (pings and download speeds), edge routing identifiers, and Digital Rights Management (DRM) engine profiles.
Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses: YAKWETU™ also processes potentially personally-identifying information like IP addresses and edge geolocation metrics (country, city, region) to enforce geographical licensing rules and determine regional pricing formats. For support troubleshooting, you may choose to download this telemetry file and voluntarily send it to us.
2. Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to YAKWETU™'s websites choose to interact with YAKWETU™ in ways that require YAKWETU™ to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that YAKWETU™ gathers depends on the nature of the interaction.
For example, we ask visitors who sign up at https://www.yakwetu.africa to provide a username and email address, or sign in using their Google account. Signing in with your Google account allows Google to provide YAKWETU™ with your name/username and email address, which shall be used in creating your account on YAKWETU™.
Direct Marketing: In accordance with Section 37 of the DPA and Regulation 14, if we plan to use your account information or email list to send direct marketing communications (such as updates on new features, products, or streaming options), we will obtain your explicit, separate opt-in consent first. You can withdraw your consent and opt out of receiving these updates at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our messages or contacting support.
3. Cookies & HTML5 Web Storage
To enrich and perfect your online experience, YAKWETU™ uses Cookies, HTML5 Local Storage (`localStorage`), and similar caching technologies to store your preferences, validate active subscriber sessions, enforce security states, and deliver appropriate content.
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor's computer, and that the visitor's browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. HTML5 Web Storage is used similarly to retain local settings. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies or storage active should set their browsers to refuse them before using YAKWETU™'s website, with the drawback that certain features (such as content playback and secure login) will not function properly.
We respect user choice: non-essential cookies and web tracking tools are only activated upon your explicit, active opt-in consent through our cookie settings.
