FLIGHT TO EXTINCTION

Synopsis

The Grey Crowned Crane, a proud symbol of Uganda, graces the nation’s flag, coat of arms and even gives its name to the national football team, the “Uganda Cranes”. Yet, this majestic bird is now on the brink of extinction, listed on the IUCN’s Red Data list. These cranes rely on Africa’s wetlands to survive, building their nests deep in hidden marshes. But as farmers and herders drain these wetlands for land, the future of the Grey Crowned Crane grows uncertain. If urgent action isn’t taken, these iconic birds could soon disappear forever.
